Using traditional white paper, wrapping paper, colored construction paper—or whatever material you have on hand, DIY paper snowflakes are easy to make and fun to decorate. You can fold your paper into different shapes and use a scissor (with a parent) to cut interesting designs and marks into your unique snowflake.

When you’re ready to decorate, use colored pencils, markers, or crayons to add dazzling color to your snowflake. You can use sequins and glitters to add some sparkle to your glistening snowflake crafts. When you’re ready, string snowflakes together to create a garland to enjoy at home.

2. Puzzle Piece Snowflake Ornament

Have leftover pieces from an old puzzle? Decorate the remaining puzzle pieces with glitter and add to your holiday tree! Cover the puzzle piece with crafting glue and dip it into your favorite color of glitter. If you don’t have glitter at home, you can also decorate the puzzle piece with paint. When your craft dries, add a strip of ribbon or bow. Finally, attach a string to the back of your painted puzzle piece to make your very own decorations. Since every snowflake is unique, this is a perfect way to recycle old puzzle pieces and have fun at home.

3. Fork Painted Snowflakes

All you’ll need for this project is plastic forks, blue construction paper and white paint. Dip the base of your fork into white paint. Then, stamp the fork in the center of the paper with the handle of the fork facing out. Stamp the fork 3 more times to create a cross. Go back around to add additional stamps in between each corner of the cross until your design is complete. Make sure to dip your fork into the white paint as needed. You can create several snowflakes on your paper using this method. When you’re ready, add swirly designs and dots to complete the wintery scene!

4. Popsicle Stick Snowflakes

Grab popsicle sticks, glue, and decorations of your choice. Each snowflake will need 4 popsicle sticks. To get started, layer and glue these 4 sticks together to create a star design. Once this dries, get decorating! Add glue to the top of your popsicle snowflake and add your favorite buttons, sequins, glitter—anything! Make your design unique. Let your snowflake dry completely before attaching a ribbon to the back of your craft. You can share your snowflake craft with loved ones or hang it on your holiday tree.

5. Marshmallow Snowflakes

You’ll need a bag of large marshmallows, a bag of mini marshmallows, and toothpicks! Starting with one large marshmallow, insert as many toothpicks as possible you’d like into the sides. Then, stick mini marshmallows on these toothpicks to create a sweet, intricate design. Just make sure to watch your fingers! You can use your marshmallow snowflake craft to decorate your hot chocolate table before adding them to your holiday drink!

DIY snowflake crafts allow you to get creative with materials you can easily find at home. Every snowflake is unique, so don’t worry about perfection—just have fun!
