Sammy’s DIY Forest Terrarium

A terrarium is a small, enclosed environment for plants. These miniature gardens are fun to observe and easy to make. They’re also an excellent learning resource for kids.

Terrariums can help introduce processes like photosynthesis, transpiration, and more. They can also bring about new responsibilities needed to keep the plants alive. Check out the post below to learn how to make a terrarium at home!

DIY Terrarium Materials

You’ll need the following materials to get started:

  • Glass container
  • Small rocks
  • Potting soil
  • Plants and/or moss
  • Small figurines

Create a DIY Forest Terrarium

Step 1: Head outside and gather rocks, moss, and plants!

Step 2: Place the small rocks at the bottom. This helps with drainage.

Step 3: Fill the container about ¾ of the way up with potting soil.

Step 4: Add your plants to the soil.

Step 5: Add whatever decorations and figurines you’d like.

Step 6: Place your terrarium somewhere sunny and water when the soil gets dry!
